NTI Computer Checkout
PLEASE READ ALL OF THE INFORMATION BELOW.
The duPont Manual Journalism & Communication magnet has a limited amount of desktop Mac computers that can be loaned to students who would like access to Adobe software at home.
Checking out a computer is an optional opportunity for students during NTI; no student will be penalized for not checking out a computer in their classes.
Please note that these are desktop computers from our own computer lab — they are powerful computers, but more fragile than laptops. Unlike Chromebooks, these are property of the J&C department and not JCPS. We raise our own funds and do not have the funding to replace damaged computers.

To borrow a computer, do this first:
- You must first print and complete this form. Please bring the form with you to Manual; on that day, please PLACE THE FORM IN YOUR TRUNK (this is also where we will place the computer). If you cannot print the form, one will be provided to you when you pick up.
- Sign up for one of our pickup times here. (See pickup requirements below.) We’re scheduling these pickup dates when our schedules allow. If there is no slot available, wait for another email to be sent out announcing pickup dates.
YOU MUST AGREE TO/HEED THESE REQUIREMENTS BEFORE CONFIRMING YOUR DATE:
- The individual accepting the computer at the pickup site must be a parent or legal guardian of the named student.
- The individuals receiving the computer at the pickup site must be in a car. No walkers or bus riders allowed, as the computer is a desktop computer and fragile.
- Individuals should not attend pickup if they have coughing, fever, or shortness of breath.
- Anyone who exits their vehicle during pickup must wear a mask and keep social distance.
ON THE DAY OF PICKUP:
- Bring a blanket or other padding with you to wrap the computer in during its transport to your home. The computer is fragile — padding is really important! Place the blanket or padding in your trunk.
- Come to the back parking lot at the corner of Cardinal Blvd. and Second St.
- Drive toward the courtyard behind the building. You’re looking for Manual’s Exit 22 — it’s next to a walking ramp.
- Pull up to the ramp. A teacher will be ready.
- Verify your identity to the teacher.
- Please pop your trunk from the inside of your car OR unlock it so that it can be opened. Ms. Palmer/Mr. Miller will take the printed form from your trunk. (If you need a printed, blank form, please be ready to fill it out upon arrival.)
- We’ll wrap the computer in the blanket and close the trunk.
- Drive carefully on the way home.
On our end, we’ll follow these COVID-19 safety procedures:
- We’ll use hand sanitizer between each pickup.
- We’ll socially distance at all times.
- We’ll use masks.
If you need to make special arrangements due to transportation issues or other concerns, or you have questions throughout this process, please email liz.palmer@jefferson.kyschools.us or text/call 502-689-2323.
