The Society of Professional Journalists first adopted a Code of Ethics in 1926. The most recent final version can be found here:

  1. Seek the truth and report it
  2. Minimize harm
  3. Act independently
  4. Be accountable

The SPJ is currently revising and updating its code of ethics. Here is the latest draft of the new version.
