The Society of Professional Journalists first adopted a Code of Ethics in 1926. The most recent version was adopted in 1996 and can be found here:

  2. Minimize harm
  3. Act independently
  4. Be accountable

The SPJ is currently revising and updating its code of ethics. Here is the latest draft of the new version.
